Smart Homes Solutions to the benefit of the elderly – what are the challenges?

About the talk

The first domotics projects were introduced approximately 3 decades ago. Some of the lessons learned were as follows:

  1. Each home must easily adapt to the personal (changing) needs of the user.
  2. Economic user-friendly solutions are crucial for success.
  3. In recent years smart homes have become much “smarter” thanks to care solutions based on data analysis.

But this also ushers in concerns: can elderly people safely keep their own homes under control? How can we guarantee the security of data or actual intrusions in a smart home? This presentation will outline the benefits and the concerns in relation to the provision of smart homes for the elderly.
